Perfectionist???
I find that Rachel is quite a perfectionist, like her father...
Few instances happened which I thought is bad for her when she goes to Pri 1 next year (fast rite?!)
Every week, she has to learn 12 words for spelling for her extra class in 'I Can Read'. She will cry everytime I tell her to learn her spelling. I will usually ask to learn the words over a few days.
Yesterday, as usual, she was asked to learn her spelling words, the last 3 words for this wk.
I was in the living room when I heard her crying *again*. I ignored her and waited for her to come to me. True enough, minutes later, she came out with her book.
They have to write the new words in her book, a "practice corner" where they write the words for 3 times. She cried bcos she finds it to be untidy! As the words varies in length, it is quite difficult to be in 3 neat columns. End up, she erased everything! All the 12 X 3 words!
I explained to her, then told her to re-write everything again. Again, when she was at the 2nd line, she cried again! U can never imagine why! See the black dot on the 2nd line?
She cried bcos the black dot hinders her from write her "3 neat cloumns" again! *Faintz*
Then, I explain to her that we must be flexible, if the dot is there and we can't remove it, we can just write by the side. Next time if she goes to Pri 1 and she takes such a long time to write the words, no one will wait for her, etc! She understood...
Then, she proceed to learn her spelling. Minutes later, she came crying again. She asked whether she can skip one of the words bcos she keeps forgetting the spelling.
Everytime, no matter what she do, she would want to score 100 marks.... But the process of doing it is wrong! So, I explained to her that if she got problem with the word, she shld come to me instead of putting aside the word.
OMG! Can someone help me to teach the kids?!?!
